Travelog 遊記

“Travelogue” by NIU Jun-Qiang is a special work which constituted by video work and conceptual actions. Artist Niu Chun-Chiang opens a discussion with the curator of this exhibition, Nobuo Takamori.

Through this discussion, they discuss and construct a handsome / perfect / good-looking German man according to their imaginations. They imagine every details of “this man”, from his appearance, family background, to his life style. And then, the curator will help the artist, who will not be in Berlin, to find “this man” during his residency program in Berlin.

<遊記 Travelog>這件作品延續了<即使她們從未相見>和<我們約 2013 年晚上八 點見面>，這兩件作品中圍繞的「見面」命題。同樣以無法在現實的場域碰面為預設，而 以另一種形式去完成「相見」這個動作。

2013 年七月，策展人高森信男邀請我參加他在德國柏林策劃的展覽。 在他出發至柏林前，我們碰面並且聊著我們心目中「最好看、性感」的德國男人。這聊天 的過程被紀錄下來。

在開展前一週，高森信男抵達柏林。在展覽期間，他每天在街頭上代替我尋找這位符合 我們「標準」的德國男人，用相機拍下來，再張貼於展場。而藝術家我則在展覽結束後， 才會看到這些陌生男子的肖像。

我以他者之眼，完成了「到此地，並見到這個人」的動作。但事實上我和他並沒有相遇。

我過去以不同方式來詮釋「見面」，它也許關於見面的「機緣」、跟「誰」相見、在哪裡、 何時見面？「相見」這個動作是來自對情感的渴求，它以另一種方式描繪感情上的完滿、 遺憾和缺席。因此對我來說，何謂「真實的相見」，也是我對感情的提問。
